In Memory of Andrea Albrecht - Wah

Sensei Andrea Albrecht - Wah

Sensei Andrea began her Karate journey in the summer of 1990. She and her son Zack found the early Wah Dojo when it was originally in a Jazzercise Studio in Martinez. Both Andrea and Zack instantly became part of the dojo family. Andrea was very dedicated to her training and even  competed in tournaments, winning  in both Kata and Kumite divisions for many years.

As a brown belt, Sensei Andrea started a toddler’s 4-5 yr-old karate class at the Walnut Creek Jewish Community Center. The students from this class would transfer to classes at Wah Dojo once the kids were ready and old enough.

So many younger girls in the dojo looked up to Andrea as a role model. Andrea helped show other females in the dojo that they could be tough, fight hard, and earn the respect of the males in the dojo. She showed them what it meant to be confident, focused, passionate and fierce.

Andrea received her Black Belt (shodan) in February of 2001 and her Nidan in June of 2014. Andrea was one of the original instructors at Wah Dojo when it first opened in Pleasant Hill.

Andrea’s personality, humor, and outgoing personality touched so many people everywhere she went.  She was a wonderful Mother, wife, teacher, student, and friend. Andrea will be missed, but the dedication to the dojo, the students, her training, and the dojo family will be remembered forever.

We miss you Andrea
