What is Kyokushin Karate?
Kyokushin (key-o-cu-shin) Karate is a traditional Japanese hard style Martial Art founded in the 1940s by Karate Master Masutatsu Oyama. Oyama studied Shotokan Karate, Goju Karate, and Judo. Oyama taught Shihan Don Buck from the 1950s, to the 1980s. Tyrone Wah studied under Shihan Buck starting in the early 1980s. Through the instruction of Shihan Buck, Sensei Wah has kept the teachings of Shihan Buck well and alive. Sensei Wah has been teaching for nearly 20 years and training for over two decades.
Kyokushin is based on power and technique that is direct and to the point or “Circle and Point”. Oyama’s philosophy was “One strike one victory.” Oyama is known in the Martial Arts community for killing charging bulls with one punch.
Students who train in the Kyokushin style will be subjected to a full body work out that will not only build a stronger body, but their training will also build a stronger mind, with emphasis on body, and spirit unity.
